Pregnancy is one of the important concerns for all women. It usually starts with implantation, when a fertilized egg is planted in the uterus. If this fertilized egg gets implanted into the walls of a woman’s uterus, implantation bleeding may occur. Although, only a third of pregnant women suffer from bleeding during implantation, the condition is nonetheless a serious one. It is even more serious if the bleeding is very heavy since it can be an indication of other serious health problems.
Implantation bleeding generally occurs two to six weeks before the ovulation period. Menstrual bleeding also takes place during that period. As a result, it is very important to distinguish between bleeding caused by menstruation and that caused by implantation. Implantation bleeding can continue for a period as short astwo hours or as long as two weeks. Compared to menstrual bleeding, implantation bleeding seems very light in volume and infrequent. In addition, women may suffer from cramps in their abdomen; these cramps occur when the fertilized egg gets into the endometrial lining.
Early pregnancy tests are necessary for women suffering from heavy implantation bleeding. A doctor can also help by taking regular checkups and by offering medications for providing relief. If heavy implantation bleeding comes with by abdominal cramps, it could be an indication of ectopic pregnancy. During ectopic pregnancy, the egg is stored in the fallopian tube and heavy bleeding 
may cause the tube to burst. As a result, if a woman observes these symptoms, she needs to get immediate medical help since the symptoms can be a sign of miscarriage.
During pregnancy, there is a change in the cervix, which carries the baby. Due to the birth of a newborn child, the blood pressure of the cervix may increase, resulting in light bleeding. Sometimes, the cervix may get inflamed during sexual intercourse, which also causes bleeding. Even though it may seem surprising, both of these cases are usually normal. However, if the bleeding occurs in the first trimester, it may be a sign of serious conditions, such as miscarriage. In addition, implantation bleeding can occur during the final weeks of pregnancy. In this case, miscarriage is a less likely possibility, and the bleeding has a greater probability of being a result of infection in the cervix.
Bleeding is normal during pregnancy and usually occurs six to twelve weeks after conception. Heavy implantation bleeding, on the other hand, is not that common. Women may experience such bleeding for several reasons. For instance, the bleeding may occur because of an infection in the urine. It may also occur after sexual intercourse, if the woman has a very sensitive cervix. As a result, these women need to talk to their doctor and stop engaging in sexual intercourse.
Pregnancy is a time for a woman to be happy. However, some of the joy may be taken away by heavy implantation bleeding. The bleeding can be normal at time but it can also be serious. As a result, every woman who suffers from heavy implantation bleeding needs to visit their doctor and take an early pregnancy test.
